A systematic review of imaging findings in patients with Osgood‐Schlatter disease

This systematic review aimed to describe the imaging characteristics of Osgood-Schlatter (OSD) compared with controls and findings over time. A search was conducted in Embase, CINAHL, PubMed from inception until July 2021. Forty studies were eligible included based on inclusion criteria OSD diagnosis, number patients, outcomes. In patients OSD, but not controls, soft-tissue swelling cartilage infrapatellar bursa, tendon changes, increased Doppler flow, fragmentation secondary ossification center. Follow-up reported improvements time, some identified persistent thickening and/or ossicles. Adults generally present free Findings inconsistent whether different morphometric features altered controls. classified within early stages tibial tuberosity maturation. documents that presents tissue alterations do appear or patient's asymptomatic knee. Notably, a large portion had involvement, ossicles seem be associated residual symptoms after Standard adolescents needs carefully considered when determining if are related disease progression part normal
